Role Overview: Medical Director

The Medical Director will provide clinical and operational leadership for post‑acute care services in Portsmouth, VA. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to influence care delivery, mentor clinical staff, and partner with facility leadership to improve resident outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic clinical leadership and vision for medical services across assigned facilities

• Ensure delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centered care in post‑acute and long‑term care settings

• Collaborate with nursing and facility leadership to develop and implement clinical policies and protocols

• Lead quality improvement activities, monitor clinical performance metrics and implement corrective action as needed

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards and best practice guidelines

• Support multidisciplinary care planning, participate in case reviews and provide physician mentorship

• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for accurate documentation, reporting and continuity of care

• Provide timely medical oversight for acute clinical changes and escalation decisions

Qualifications and Required Skills

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school

• Board‑certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or related specialty

• Active, unrestricted Virginia medical license and current DEA registration

• Proven clinical experience in post‑acute, long‑term care, geriatrics or a related field preferred

• Previous leadership or medical director experience desirable

• Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills

• Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and evidence‑based practice

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record systems
